THUMSTORY
SEASON2

Pre-production

First, we wrote and drew each episodes' storyboard for 3D layout and animation timing according to the script and protagonists in Season 1. Also we listed all props that could be used in each single shot and let the modeler create them in 3D software.

After that I cooperated with voice actors about the lines by watching the storyboard at the same time. The we combined them into animatic storyboard.

Meanwhile after I had written all the literal storyboard ,I turned myself into the modeling part which is more urgent for the current progress. So I worked with modeler producing the 3D model according to the original character design and scene we need.

Then tetured it and moved to render test.

​Then I rigged them and animated with our crew.

In order to shorten​ the time of rendering and reduce the budget of a large amount of rendering , we decided to separate each single shot into different layers for instance character layer, reflection layer, scene layer, shadow layer etc. This would also help us easily adjust lighting and shorten time of render test.

And after that we can carry on polish animation and divide layers and render tests at the same time.

Then we conduct compositing in nuke and create visual of special effects in After Effect.
